Learn To Play The Greek Clarinet

James Stoynoff will be offering classes at the Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum.

A well known Greek clarinet player will be offering lessons at the city's museum later this month.

James Stoynoff, a Greek Clarinet player, who specializes in research, performance, and preservation of Greek folk music, will be teaching the classes.

The clarinet is prominent in Greek folk music and is separated by its use of the Bb key. 
Stoynoff is a recording artist who also studies the cultural signficance of the Greek clarinet.

Students in Stoynoff's class will learn songs typical of regional Greek styles, and the history of the clarinet in Greek music. Students should have one year of clarinet experience and should bring an instrument.

Stoynoff's class will be offered May, 30; June 1 and 2 at the Heritage Museum, 100 Beekman Lane in Tarpon Springs. Cost is $5 per class. For class times and more information, or to sign up call 727-937-1130.
