Learn to Play the Greek Bouzouki

After a recent grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the City of Tarpon Springs is paying special attention to its arts scene.

The City of Tarpon Springs is presenting a series of workshops in Greek bouzouki for youth and adults by Leonidas Zafiris and Elias Poulos.  

Originally from Greece, Leonidas Zafiris is an outstanding professional bouzouki musician and teacher. Prior to working in Toronto for many years, Zafiris played bouzouki for top vocalists in Greece for over 25 years.  

Born in Argos, Greece, Elias Poulos is knownprimarily as a singer, but he is also a bouzouki player.  His repertoire includes the latest hits from Greece as well as well-knowndimotika, rembetika, nisiotika and songs from throughout Greece.

Workshops will take place on Sundays, May 19, June 2, 9, 23, 30, and July 7 & 14, 2013 at the Safford House, 23 Parkin Ct. in Tarpon Springs.  Classes will be divided into adult (2-2:55pm) and youth (3-4pm) sections.  

Students should bring an instrument. A few bouzoukis will be available to beginning students.
