Sustainable Tarpon Springs - Selfless Visions

October 24, 2013, was Global Oneness Day, an effort coordinated by Humanity’s Team along with other like-minded individuals, who perceive and understand our universal connections and the necessity of awakening all of humanity to the reality of global community.

Humanity’s Team is an international spiritual movement whose purpose is to communicate and demonstrate the timeless truth that We Are All One, with God and life – caring for each other and the world we share – so that people's actions reflect this profound understanding within a generation.  They believe that living this truth is essential to solving the most chronic and acute world problems and vital to creating a sustainable world of peace, harmony and happiness. Global community is a grand vision, and whether we ‘feel it’, embrace it, or deny it - it still exists.  To realize global community, begins right here in our local community.  Here’s where the rubber meets the road.  Our local community is where the strength of our larger networks begins.  If we can’t get along and work with our neighbors, how can we expect to have any understanding with other nations, for example.

Even though Global Oneness Day included leaders who spoke from either a scientific or spiritual perspective, I was amazed that every person inadvertently spoke about sustainability.  Ken Wilber explained the process of our individual evolution of consciousness - from being very ‘egocentric’ as children, to growing into the ethnocentric phase, maturing to be world-centric, and ripening to be cosmos-centric as all of humanity grows up together.  We are in a ripening phase of our interconnected understanding, at last, where we see our cooperation as essential to survival.

A new world is emerging, and we are possibly ‘coming of age’ as a result of the internet acting as our global nervous system.  As quickly as we have an inspiration, we can find others with the same inspiration!  We may want to patent our ‘intellectual properties’ and capitalize off of our unique slant on truth, but perhaps we are in a time of exponential, global revelation and awareness, too rapid to lay claim on anything we think we alone discovered.  

To think any idea is for selfish benefit is falling short of our calling.  If we get caught up in our personal pursuits for recognition, political power, or celebrity, we are stuck in our finite egos which narrows down the scope of our deeper opportunities.  As we freely share our visions to all of  humanity, we are raising the bar for everyone including ourselves.  Not to give the woes of our nation any more energy than they deserve, but they wouldn’t even exist if all of us could unplug from selfish pursuits and expand our reality into a new global vision of abundance.

Each of us plays a unique role, even though we are all connected!  Our ‘freewill ‘ and how we use our unique gift is key to everything.  It’s not about getting credit for accomplishments as much as sharing a collective vision and bringing it to pass through community efforts.  Epigenetics, a radical new biophysics, shows we are actually evolving to meet this challenge, moving us out of the old competition paradigm into a new cooperation model.   This is happening for our survival, for our sustainability!  We can either evolve or die, as Eckhart Tolle expressed in A New Earth, and as so many Wisdom Voices of our generation are speaking in unison.

As we recognize our Oneness, our interconnected mission, our compassion for the weakest links in our social fabric deepen.  We know that ‘total success’ means the success of us all.  If we think to ourselves, competition is an American ideal, think again.  ‘E pluribus unum’ which is on the Seal of the United States and all of our coins means “Out of many, One.”  Perhaps our forefathers had a prophetic, selfless vision of community long before any of us fully grasped the implications of our need for collaboration!

If we could collectively ‘hold our attention to this intention’ for a unified moment, who knows how our world could change, in an instant!  This is no longer a spiritual or New Age concept -   this is a scientific reality.  We are living in this moment in history for a reason.  Now is the time to surrender any personal power trips or selfish aspirations and BE the heroes we are waiting for!  Any other mode is part of an expired paradigm.
