Tarpon Springs Woman Airlifted After Head-On Crash on U.S. 19

U.S. 19 was shut down Thursday after a rear-end collision caused two other crashes, according to Florida Highway Patrol investigators.

A Holiday man was charged with careless driving after he rear-ended a car on U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor, sending it into oncoming traffic and causing a head-on collision, according to authorities.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) investigators say the crash happened around 5:16 p.m. Thursday afternoon near Rita Lane. Justin Przytulski, 20, was driving a 1991 Toyota pickup truck northbound on U.S. 19 and rear-ended a 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Holly Williams, 31, of Tarpon Springs. The crash report says Williams had slowed down because traffic ahead of her had stopped.

Investigators say the impact of the crash sent Williams' car into southbound traffic on U.S. 19.

Her car was hit head-on by a 2008 Chevy van driving in the southbound direction. Michael Miller, 40, of Port Richey was driving the van.

The impact of the head-on collision caused Miller's van to hit the side of a 1998 Nissan truck in a southbound lane. The truck was driven by Shelton Williams, 38, of Seminole.

Traffic was halted on U.S. 19, so a Bayflite medical helicopter could land and pick up Holly Williams, who suffered serious injuries in the crash, according to FHP. Her condition was later upgraded to stable.

Micheal Miller and passenger Rusty Miller suffered minor injuries and were transported to Florida Hospital in Tarpon Springs.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators gave the following damage estimates-

  • 1991 Toyota truck driven by Justin Przytuski: $3,000 damage
  • 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Holly Williams: $8,000 damage
  • 2008 Chevy van driven by Michael Miller: $6,000 damage
  • 1998 Nissan truck driven by Shelton Williams: $4,000 damage
