Commissioners Plan to Put Fluoride Back in Drinking Water

Fluoride appears to be making a comeback in Pinellas County, now that the commissioners who voted to remove it about a year ago have themselves been voted out of office.

Newly-elected "pro-fluoride" commissioners Janet Long and Charlie Justice attended their first county commission meeting Nov. 20, where commissioners unanimously decided to put fluoride back into the county's drinking water, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

"When we come back here after Thanksgiving, we are prepared to take that vote and flip that switch," said Long.

The Times reports that commissioners John Morroni and Norm Roche, who opposed fluoride last year, have changed their minds and will vote to put it back in the drinking water.

"It is the most ignorant, asinine decision that was ever made," said pediatric dentist Dr. Johnny Johnson, who wore a giant tooth costume outside an East Lake precinct on election day. Johnson wanted to convince voters to cast their ballots for "pro-fluoride" candidates Janet Long and Charlie Justice.

Dr. Oscar Menendez paid for a billboard on U.S. 19 that also called for change. "Want Fluoride? Good Leadership? ELECT Janet Long & Charlie Justice for County Commissioner," it said.

The Pinellas County Commission plans to vote on the matter during its meeting Tuesday, Nov. 27.

I am absolutely opposed to this! Anyone who has done any research on this subject should be outraged. fluoride is a poison and is toxic. It has also been proven fluoride causes cavities. We must take a stand against this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp3wJjzrrhE

Fluoride is poison, but if someone wants to use it on their children, they can easily buy toothpaste that includes fluoride. There are warnings NOT to SWOLLOW this kind of toothpaste. What does that tell us??? My generation was forced to drink fluoride, and who knows if that is part of the reason so much cancer abounds? We have not exercised the 'precautionary principle' in the past, but to return to archaic health ideas and force them on an entire population is like forcing us to all drink the Kool-Aid.

Dentists are not medical doctors. Its ridiculous to force people to drink fluoridated water when fluoride is a known dangerous toxin. Com,mon sense should tell you that if it kills bacteria on your teeth it is going to kill beneficial bacteria in your body and affect your cellular metabolism (bacteria are single celled cretaures). Research that shows the ill effects of systemic fluioridation is readily available. Why don't dentists do something that shows common sense like teaching people to eat healthy food and lower the amount of acid causing sugar and coca cola they drink. Of course if they did something sensible like that they would be run out of town by the corporations that produce these poisons.
