Should Tarpon Springs Restaurants Be Dog Friendly?

During the public comment portion of last week's City Commission meeting, a Tarponite brought up the idea of making area establishments pet friendly.

Nicholas Tabus brought to light an idea that has already been implemented in towns like Clearwater and Dunedin. Dog friendly establishments are one thing Tarpon Springs is lacking.

During the public comment portion of the June 18 Board of Commissioners meeting, Tabus highlighted the subject while city officials took notes.

"Frankly, many restaurants just have to turn people away when they bring a dog and that hurts the livelihood of many servers and restaurant employees around the city," Tabus said.

Tabus said he was representing Mama's Greek Cuisine, a local favorite that can be found on the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks.

What do you think, Tarpon Springs? Would you like to see city officials pursue this possibility?
