Deputies: Cross-Dressing Burglar Accused In Tarpon Springs Attack

Tarpon Springs Police responded to an unusual 911 call last Sunday involving a man who officers say was dressed as a woman and had broken into a home, assaulted the occupant, and left a trail of damage inside.

It all started around 1 a.m. when the resident thought they heard something outside.

The resident, who police did not identify, told police they heard a loud noise in their garage followed by the smashing of a window.

When the resident unlocked the front door, Jeremy Middleton, 39, of Tampa, forced his way in and began beating the victim.

Middleton was wearing a wig and woman's negligee at the time of the attack, according to an arrest affidavit.

The victim suffered injuries to the hands, arms and face during the attack.

"She's going crazy in there," the victim said of Middleton when police officers arrived at the home. Officers reported they could not tell whether Middleton was a male or female when they entered the house.

Police say the noise in the garage was Middleton driving his car through the garage door. After he made his way into the home, Middleton urinated on the bathroom floor, threw glass cologne bottles at the victim and broke a laptop by throwing it on the floor.

After being read his miranda rights, deputies say Middleton accused the victim of giving him a sexually-transmitted virus when they had sex together prior to the June 30 attack.

Middleton was arrested on felony charges of criminal mischief and burglary with battery. His bond is set at $80,000 and Middleton is awaiting trial at the Pinellas County Jail

The arrest affidavit did not specify if the victim was male or female. To protect the victim's identity, police did not disclose the address of the victim.

Police were called to the home after someone made two 911 calls from the home, but the calls were disconnected.
