More on Tim Keffalas: Even though Keffalas is orginally from Butler, PA, his roots in Tarpon Springs run deep, with his wife being a third generation Tarponite.

Keffalas added that the couple have a "long history and background in Tarpon Springs."

Involvement is a key part of Keffalas' outlook, and he regularly participates in the Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society and the Sister Cities program. Keffalas is also a member of AHEPA, an international organization that facilitates senior housing across the U.S. and is involved with disaster relief. 

Keffalas is an avid supporter of promoting Greek culture and heritage within Tarpon Springs.

According to Keffalas, his father encouraged him at a young age to "give back to the community and not to expect something in return."

In an email, Keffalas shared the boost that pushed him into running.

"I was challenged by a past city official to get involved because I was so passionate about my beliefs," Keffalas wrote.
