Tarponites Grateful For Return of Fireworks

When Tarpon Springs residents found out there would be an Independence Day celebration in town, which will include a lost tradition, they were anything but tight-lipped about their excitement.

On May 7, the Board of Commissioners approved Commissioner Townsend Tarapani's proposal to bring a Fourth of July fireworks display back to the community.

"It's a tradition honoring the men and women who have fought and died for this country and our freedom," Tarapani said.

Tarponites spoke out on Tarpon Springs Patch with positive messages of gratitude and excitement:

"Huge thanks to Commissioner Tarapani for bringing this great tradition back to Tarpon Springs. I can't wait for my daughter's first fireworks show in Tarpon Springs!" -Commissioner David Banther

"I think it's great that we are going to have fireworks on the Fourth this year. It is such a part of the Independence Day celebration, and I've hated having to drive out of town to get my annual dose! Hated worse missing it. So kudos to the Commission for bringing it back!" -Gwen Hamlin
